There are several membership classes available including:
Individual Member Recommended for individuals with an interest in environmental and air quality matters.
Organisation Member Recommended for organsiations and Government departments associated with environmental and air quality matters. Each Organisation Member may:
- Nominate two representatives who will have all membership rights.
- Nominate up to two additional people to receive the "Clean Air" journal.
- Seek discounts at courses, seminars, etc, for up to any two people from the organisation."
- Be listed in the "Clean Air" journal as an Organisation Member.
Sustaining Member Recommended for large organisations associated with environmental and air quality matters with operations in various states and/or countries. Each Sustaining Member may:
- Nominate five representatives who will have all membership rights.
- Nominate up to five additional people to receive the "Clean Air" journal.
- Seek discounts at courses, seminars, etc, for an unlimited number of people.
- Be listed in the "Clean Air" journal as a Sustaining Member.
Accredited Professional Any person who is a Member or representative of an Organisation or Sustaining Member and who has applied for and been granted Accredited Professional status under Rule 3.23. An Accredited Professional will have the right to use prescribed initials after their name designating their grade of membership. Each Accredited Professional will have all membership rights including the right to vote and to hold office.

Fellow of the Society Any person who is a Member and who has applied for and been granted Fellow of the Society status under Rule 3.23. The requirements for Fellow of the Society are distinctly greater than accreditation as an Accredited Professional. A Fellow of the Society will have the right to use prescribed initials after their name designating their grade of membership. Each Fellow of the Society will have all membership rights including the right to vote and to hold office.

Retired Member A Member of at least ten years standing who has retired from his or her full-time occupation and has advised the Secretary of his or her retirement, is eligible for Individual Membership for an annual subscription equal to the Student Membership Subscription.
Student Member Any person currently enrolled at a tertiary institution in a course approved by the Council of the Society. The course should have some content which, in the opinion of Council, would prepare the candidate for active participation in the field of air quality management in their working careers. This level of membership can be maintained for up to five years or until their tertiary qualifications are obtained, whichever is the sooner. Student members do not have the right to vote or hold office. Honorary Member Any person whether a Member of the Society or otherwise who, in the opinion of Council, has rendered outstanding service to the Society. There are a maximum of eight honorary members, who are elected by members of the Council. Upon election, annual subscription ceases. Each Honorary Member has all membership rights, including the right to vote and hold office.
Life Member Any member of not less than ten years standing, who has rendered outstanding service to the Society. Life Members are elected by members of the Council. Each Life Member has all membership rights, including the right to vote and hold office.
