AMBIENT AIR QUALITY MONITORING 3 DAY CASANZ COURSE - PERTH, WA

This CASANZ course provides basic training aimed at developing skills in ambient air quality monitoring. The course covers measurement technologies for particulates and gases, units, gas flow, uncertainty, quality assurance, calibration, monitoring networks, meteorological measurements, site selection, integrated systems ozone, open path monitoring, suspended particulates and heavy metals, VOCs by USEPA methods and odour measurement.
COURSE PRESENTERS
The presentations in the program will be provided by recognised experts with many years of experience as air quality professionals across Australia.
The principal presenter will be Mr Robert Dal Sasso. Robert is the CEO of Ecotech, one of Australia's most experienced air quality professionals who established Ecotech over 30 years ago and developed the company into a world leader in instrumentation design and manufacture. He will present papers on the calibration of air monitoring instrumentation and gas flow rate and volume meters and continuous particulate monitoring using a TEOM.
Other presenters include Bruce Watson (Birla Nifty), Steve Wilkinson (Chemistry Centre, Western Australia), Terry Schulz (The Odour Unit), Vlado Raich (URS), Robert Kleinfelder (Department of Environment and Conservation) and Razvan Vlad (Ecotech).

AMBIENT AIR MONITORING STANDARDS 2 DAY CASANZ COURSE - PERTH, WA
28 & 29 AUGUST, 2008
This CASANZ two day course covers the technical details of ambient air quality monitoring, and the application of the associated Australian Standards, not covered in the "Ambient Air Quality Monitoring" course. This course includes an overview of ANZ, ISO, USEPA, BS, and other standards for meteorological, particulate, gaseous and related sampling.
The course is intended for those with some experience in monitoring who need to be fully trained in following Australian Standard methods. The course includes presentations on air quality monitoring equipment, meteorological monitoring, monitoring particulates PM10 with the high and low volume methods including TEOM and Beta gauges, monitoring of NOX, SO2, CO and Ozone and preparation of reference gases. The course also answers questions regarding the status of the standards, limitations of standards and their assessment and monitoring.

Robert has presented training courses on Air quality Trace Gas Monitoring to the U.S. EPA in North Carolina, Visibilty and Nephelometry and Trace Gas Monitoring to CMA ( China Meteorological Authority) , Ambient Air Monitoring to Victorian EPA, NSW EPA, QLD EPA and UNHCR in Cyprus. He will present papers on the QA/QC and calibration of air monitoring instrumentation and gas flow rate and volume meters and continuous particulate monitoring using LVAS, Hi-Vol samplers, TEOM and Beta Gauge (BAM).
Robert Kleinfelder
Robert Kleinfelder is the Manager of Air Quality Monitoring at the Department of Environment and Conservation. He serves as the WA representative on the Australian Standards Committee developing air quality standards and on the National Environment Protection Measure (Air) Peer Review Committee. He is also an Assessor for the National Association of Testing Authorities.

There will be a course dinner on Thursday evening. The cost of the dinner is NOT included in the course registration.
Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand (CASANZ), a nongovernmental, nonprofit organization first formed in the late 1960's to bring together people with an interest in clean air and the mechanics of air pollution. Its focus is now expanded to encompass broader environmental management affairs, but with particular reference to air quality and related issues.
