NOTICE OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The CASANZ Victoria/Tasmania Branch committee is holding its end of year event to recognise excellence in our industry. On 22 November 2018, we will be holding the Werner Strauss Awards Night and AGM. The evening will include a presentation on managing bushfire and planned burning smoke.

Guest Speaker Presentation: Professor Ian Porter
Dr. Ian Porter is Research Professor, Animal Plant & Soils, School of Life Sciences, Latrobe University
Smoke taint can be a number one agricultural risk factor for some wine makers in areas prone to bushfire and planned burning smoke impacts in Australia. LaTrobe University Professor Ian Porter will present the research being undertaken to improve the understanding of smoke taint on wine grapes and the sensory outcomes of the wine made from these grapes. The key findings of this research and the future work being undertaken to predict smoke taint will be discussed. Professor Porter will provide some samples of tainted wine to share.
Werner Strauss Awards Presentation
The Branch awards recognise individuals or organisations who, in the judgment of the society, have made an outstanding contribution to the field of air quality. The 2018 recipient(s) will be announced during the awards ceremony.
Annual General Meeting
The Branch AGM will also be held during the evening.
Food and Drinks
Drinks and nibbles will be provided during the event.
